IAI and ACCA sign Strategic Partnership Agreement to further advance Indonesia’s accountancy profession

11 Juli 2019 - Info IAI

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between IAI and ACCA in August 2009 and a Strategic Partnership Agreement in June 2014, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and IAI (Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia), Indonesia’s national accounting body, have signed a renewed Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) on 11 April 2019 to continue to strengthen their successful collaboration in further advancing the accountancy profession in Indonesia. The building of professional accountants across the eco-system, from business to public sectors, is an integral element in supporting the needs of Indonesia’s growing economy.  Professional accountants play an important role in shaping strategy formulation, investment and operational decisions, as well as enhancing trust in financial reporting by investors, regulators and other stakeholders.

The Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed by Leong Soo Yee, Lead Market Director,  ACCA and Prof. Sidharta Utama, IAI National Council in Nusa Dua, Bali. The agreement extension also provides an incentivised pathway for IAI members to obtain the ACCA membership and for eligible ACCA members to obtain the IAI membership.

Conny Siahaan, Head of ACCA Indonesia said, “We’re delighted to be entering into this agreement with IAI to support the development of Indonesia’s accountancy profession. Accountants are essential to grow and sustain the economy and agreements such as these are an important way to invest in financial skills and recognise ability in upcoming finance professionals. We look forward to our future work with IAI, for the benefit of our students and members across the country.

Elly Zarni Husin, Executive Director of  IAI said, “Strategic partnership with international bodies is part of IAI Strategic Plan – called Prakarsa 6.1 – which aims to continuously enhance the professionalism and competencies of Indonesia’s professional accountant.”
