ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and IAI (Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia or the Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants) reaffirm their conviction that a strong, ethical, and forward- looking accountancy profession is essential to the sustainable growth of economies and societies.
The renewed focus on collaboration comes as ACCA’s Director, Asia Pacific, Pulkit Abrol, visited Jakarta to speak at the IAI Conference. At the Conference, he presented on how high-quality sustainability reporting can unlock new opportunities for organisations and economies.
Professional qualifications equip individuals with the business acumen, technical competence, and ethical judgement needed to create and report lasting value in an increasingly digital and interconnected world. To advance these ambitions, ACCA and IAI are committed to build a profession that drives a sustainable and inclusive future.
As members of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), ACCA and IAI share core values of integrity, transparency, public interest, and continuous learning. Building on these shared values, ACCA and IAI are exploring ways to further enhance member recognition opportunities and build upon the existing ACCA-IAI Strategic Pathway that facilitates Chartered Accountant (CA) Indonesia holders meet ACCA membership requirements through the ACCA Qualification route.
ACCA and IAI are also exploring broad areas of cooperation reflecting mutual priorities and institutional strengths, including professional education and certification, talent development, digital transformation, thought leadership and research, sustainability and public financial management, and recognition of professional qualifications to enhance mobility.
ACCA acknowledges the important strategic position IAI holds in setting financial reporting and sustainability disclosure standards in Indonesia and custodian of the code of ethics. ACCA also recognises IAI as the body responsible for developing certified accountants and supports the importance of the CA Indonesia professional qualification as a key certification that underpins the accountancy profession in Indonesia.
Regionally, ACCA collaborates with IAI through the ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA), which serves as Southeast Asia’s regional professional network, where IAI plays an influential role as the permanent Secretariat. ACCA and IAI share a firm commitment to ASEAN integration and centrality, advocating closer regional cooperation, progressive
alignment with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) framework, and greater use of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Agreement Framework on Accountancy Services.
We deeply appreciate ACCA's recognition of IAI's leadership as the acknowledged Professional Accountancy Organisation in Indonesia, affirming our joint commitment to elevating the competence and global competitiveness of our Chartered Accountant members.” – Elly Zarni Husin, Executive Director, IAI
“By combining IAI’s leadership in Indonesia with ACCA’s global reach, we can help equip a new generation of professionals with the digital, sustainability and strategic skills they need to drive inclusive growth.” – Pulkit Abrol, Director, Asia Pacific, ACCA
