Chartered Accountants: Upholding Trust and Integrity in a Changing World

14 Oktober 2025 - Siaran Pers

Trust has long been the cornerstone of the accountancy profession, and recent findings reaffirm that Chartered Accountants continue to be regarded as the most trusted financial professionals globally. The 4th Wave “Evaluating Trust in the Accountancy Sector” Survey (June 2023), conducted in partnership with Edelman DXI, involved 1,350 senior business decision-makers from the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. The study revealed a growing public confidence in Chartered Accountants, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic and amid ongoing global uncertainty.

According to the survey, 83% of respondents view Chartered Accountants as essential in helping businesses adapt to post-crisis challenges, 81% believe they play a crucial role as custodians of data integrity in an era of misinformation, and 70% recognize them as credible voices on key societal issues such as sustainability. These findings underscore the profession’s pivotal role in maintaining transparency, credibility, and accountability in an increasingly complex financial and business environment.

Since its inception nearly two centuries ago, the Chartered Accountancy profession has been founded on accuracy, integrity, and public interest. While business models, technology, and communications have evolved dramatically, those principles remain constant. Chartered Accountants continue to embody trustworthiness—grounded in ethics, professionalism, and a deep commitment to quality and transparency.

In today’s fast-changing world marked by digital transformation, data proliferation, and heightened stakeholder expectations, the need for trusted financial and non-financial information is greater than ever. Chartered Accountants now play an expanding role beyond financial reporting—ensuring the reliability of sustainability disclosures, governance frameworks, and business models that underpin long-term value creation.

This publication, “Chartered Accountants’ Stance on Trust,” reinforces how the profession continues to build and sustain public confidence through strong ethical standards, continuous professional development, and adaptive leadership amid global challenges.

As the “guardians of governance,” Chartered Accountants remain steadfast in their mission to serve the public interest—preserving trust as the profession’s most valuable asset and upholding integrity as its timeless foundation.
