The Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants (Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia – IAI) today warmly welcomes the IFRS Foundation’s release of the first set of Jurisdictional Profiles and Snapshots, a landmark initiative that offers capital-market participants a clear view of each jurisdiction’s progress toward adopting the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (ISSB Standards).
The Jurisdictional Profiles aim to serve as the source of reference for investors, preparers, assurance providers and others interested in sustainability-related financial disclosures. The Jurisdictional Profiles are based on the Jurisdictional Guide published in May 2024 by IFRS Foundation and are developed through an established process of bilateral engagement with jurisdictions and an independent review before being confirmed by representatives of the ISSB. Jurisdictions with a finalised regulatory framework are featured in detailed profiles, while jurisdictions—such as Indonesia—still finalising their approach appear as high-level snapshots, signalling their declared direction of travel towards alignment with the ISSB Standards global baseline.
The Jurisdiction Snapshot for Indonesia draws on two key milestones: The Sustainability Disclosure Standards Roadmap issued by IAI in December 2024, which sets out Indonesia’s path to align with the ISSB’s global baseline; and Exposure Drafts of Standar Pengungkapan Keberlanjutan (SPK) consists of PSPK 1 and PSPK 2 (based IFRS S1 and IFRS S2) released for public consultation the same month. The IFRS Foundation has categorised Indonesia’s approach to incorporating the ISSB Standards into the SPK as one that is designed to produce outcomes functionally aligned with those achieved by applying the ISSB Standards.
By summarising these developments, the Snapshot signals to investors, lenders and other stakeholders that Indonesia is firmly on track to establish globally comparable sustainability-related disclosures—enhancing transparency, improving access to capital and supporting the Indonesia’s climate and development objectives. IAI through its Dewan Standar Keberlanjutan is working to finalise the SPK in the coming weeks. IAI will continue working closely with Financial Services Authority (OJK), other regulators and relevant stakeholder to ensure applicability of SPK based on ISSB Standards in Indonesia.
