On 1 July 2025, the Indonesian Sustainability Standards Board (Dewan Standar Keberlanjutan Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia – DSK IAI) officially ratify Indonesia’s first national Sustainability Disclosure Standards (Standar Pengungkapan Keberlanjutan/SPK), consist of PSPK 1 and PSPK 2. These standards will become effective from 1 January 2027.
The issuance of SPK represents the implementation of the SPK Roadmap, published in December 2024, which set out strategic directions for the development and phased implementation of sustainability disclosure standards in Indonesia. The roadmap also provided key recommendations to strengthen the sustainability disclosure ecosystem, covering aspects such as regulatory coordination, capacity building, assurance readiness, and alignment with international frameworks.
A launching ceremony for the SPK together with Bank Indonesia, Ministry of Finance and Financial Service Authority (OJK) will be held on 11 August 2025 marking a significant national milestone in Indonesia’s transition towards transparent and globally relevant sustainability reporting.
The SPK represents a major milestone in Indonesia’s commitment to sustainability and transparency, offering clear guidance for companies to disclose sustainability-related risks and opportunities. By aligning with the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and IFRS S2) issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Indonesia joins a growing number of jurisdictions adopting globally consistent sustainability reporting frameworks.
“These standards are a game-changer,” said Ardan Adiperdana, President of IAI. “They will accelerate access to green financing, streamline global due diligence processes, and position Indonesian companies as key players in sustainable global supply chains. SPK is not just about compliance—it is a long-term strategy to enhance national economic resilience amid the climate crisis and global transformation.”
PSPK 1 sets out general requirements for sustainability-related disclosures, including conceptual foundations, reporting location and timing, and the four core content areas: governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics & targets. PSPK 2 focuses specifically on climate-related disclosures, serving as a key instrument in Indonesia’s transition toward a low-carbon economy.
According to Istini T. Siddharta, Chair of DSK IAI, “SPK is designed to integrate sustainability reporting with financial reporting, providing decision-makers with a comprehensive view of enterprise value and long-term risks and opportunities.”
The standard-setting process was inclusive and participatory, involving public consultations, written submissions, and focused discussions with regulators, ministries, industry players, academics, and the professional associations. IAI conducted both online and in-person hearings, engaging over 700 participants, and received 54 formal comment letters—ensuring the standards are contextual, practical, and sector-relevant.
The ratification of SPK complements IAI’s role as Indonesia’s financial reporting standard-setter for the private sector for over 52 years, further positioning the organization as a trusted institution in shaping the future of corporate reporting—now integrating both financial and sustainability aspects.
Looking ahead, IAI will strengthen implementation efforts through strategic partnerships with industry associations, climate research organizations, and other stakeholders, to build national capacity for high-quality sustainability reporting.
With the SPK in place, Indonesia reinforces its position as a proactive and progressive country in Asia, integrating sustainable development and economic interests. The issuance of SPK also places Indonesia among the 33 jurisdictions featured in the IFRS Foundation’s jurisdictional profiles & snapshots, highlighting its alignment with global reporting developments.
